Update
CityLink board decides to appeal.
The CityLink board decided on Thursday, April 6th - to appeal the zoning
board’s February decision on the 800 Bank Street property.
This was a difficult decision. We understand that many people are
uncomfortable with – and some decidedly opposed to - CityLink’s proposed
location in the West End.
CityLink board members and volunteers have spent the past few months
having as many discussions as possible so that we could listen and learn
from city officials, educators, business owners, neighborhood councils,
neighbors, etc. These discussions have provided helpful insight. We remain
open to many new ideas and even other locations, but we were required to
have a final decision about the appeal by April 13th.
800 Bank Street continues to be the only property we have identified that
fits our criteria and we believe our campus of services fits within the
zoning. Therefore, we believe the most prudent course of action at this
time, therefore, seems to be to pursue an appeal for the property we already
own.
Over the next few months we will be developing our operational
strategies, creating communications materials, and seeking additional input.
We hope to build more confidence and community support for CityLink, which
we continue to believe will be a significant partner in fighting poverty and
changing lives in Cincinnati.
If you would like to discuss our decision or the development of CityLink
further, please email
citylink@onecity.org.
