Today one out of every five residents in Cincinnati is living in poverty.
And one out of every three kids. 1
- In the 2006 US Census, Cincinnati ranked as the third poorest city in the country with a poverty rate of 27.8%.
2
- In 1980 20% of Cincinnati residents lived in
poverty and today - 2 ˝ decades later - 20% of residents live in poverty 3
We believe there is a need to change the way
we are fighting poverty. We are people who believe passionately… …that we
need to move beyond relief to building relationships …that an
infrastructure that taps into the resources of Cincinnati’s 900 + churches
and thousands of individual volunteers would exponentially multiply the
staff capacity of current service providers …that integrated services
yields a greater impact on lives – more holistic change, shorter recovery
times, fewer people falling through the cracks We believe that linking
people to each other so that they may learn from each other and be
encouraged by one other will change lives and our city. We believe in
CityLink.
