History
JobsPlus Employment Network has been providing job placement and
readiness programs for 12 years from its headquarters on Elm Street in
Over-the-Rhine. Jobs Plus focuses many of their programs on helping people
with prior convictions find meaningful employment.
In 2004, JobsPlus began discussing a mentoring program which would reach out
to people in the Hamilton County coreectional facilities 3 months prior to
their release. Developing relationships earlier would help to speed up a
person’s ability to re-establishing employment soon after being released.
Furthermore, adding a mentoring program that focused on the six month period
before and after leaving prison would help to ensure a support network.
OneCity became involved with the JobsPlus program in 2005 in order to help
provide additional mentors from Cincinnati’s churches. OneCity is currently
piloting the StepUp program and determining best practices on this front. |
