Who We Are

TeamWorks is a job coaching program partnership between OneCity and Cincinnati Works that pairs job coaches with Cincinnati Works job members to support job retention and skill development.

What We Do

  • We pair working professionals with Cincinnati Works job members in a one-on-one coaching relationship
  • We target time management and problem-solving skill development
  • We support short-term goals and provide planning tools to help promote goal completion

The Need

Poverty is too high in Cincinnati:
  • 23.5% of residents live in poverty
  • Cincinnati is ranked 10th in U.S. cities in poverty

The Impact

  • Key factors for breaking the cycle of poverty is through relationships and role models
  • A person can move towards self-sufficiency by building resources and skills
  • Job coaches support job retention and skill development such as increased time management and on the job problem-solving skills

Who Can Job Coach?

Anyone who cares about people living in poverty, has/has had a steady work history and is 22 years of age or older.

Role Description

A TeamWorks job coach is a positive role model, a problem-solver, and a resource for Cincinnati Works job members in order to support long-term job retention and life-skill development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain a positive relationship with a CW job member
  • Support job retention
  • Report regularly on goals and outcomes
  • Complete modules designed to build problem-solving skills for retention

Time Commitment

Job coaches meet personally with CW job members 2 times per month and connect via phone/email/text weekly. Total time: 6 hours per month.

Pairing

Job coaches are paired based on age, life-stage, personal interests and job background. Job coaches will be paired after the initial mentor training.

Training

TeamWorks training involves both a “Framework for understanding poverty” training and a specific program training.

Support

All TeamWorks job coaches will be placed in a team of 3-5 mentors. There will be a team leader to offer help and support. The team will meet quarterly and connect periodically via email. Each mentor will receive a resource binder with local service provider information.
