OneCity relies so much on our volunteers for a city-wide impact, from dedicated mentors and tutors to the writers and graphic designers who created this website, there are so many ways you can get involved.

Our Top Volunteer Needs

Best Practice Teams

Best practice teams will be comprised of two - six volunteers who work together to develop a Best Practice/Innovation (BPI) recommendation in a specific field of need, relative to Cincinnati. Teams will work through a process which includes:

  1. Identifying needs, outages, and insights.
  2. Researching local and national best practices.
  3. Conducting ideation sessions.
  4. Evaluating ideas.
  5. Creating a strategic recommendation for adoption into current and/or proposed OneCity initiatives.

Innovation Directors
Manage team of two to six volunteers. Lead the strategic thinking, recommendation and guide decisions on research, timing, and involvement from various stakeholders.

Research Analysts
Conduct online research, review secondary research sources and evaluate data in order to uncover insights and/or measure results.

Current Projects:

BPI - Mentoring Team: Find and create best options to incorporate into various adult mentoring programs with a focus on improving prison re-entry and employment mentoring programs.

BPI - Case Management Team: Find and create best practice options for integrated case management at CityLink Center. Will require multiple discipline approach that includes counseling, IT, and coordination between service providers.

BPI - Recreation Experience & Connection Team: Find and create best practices that maximize people’s ability to have meaningful connections within fun, recreational experiences.

Other BPI teams will be forming around marriage enrichment, health care and senior care.

Creative Communications Team

Designers
People who are gifted at bringing ideas to life in the compelling design of our collateral, web, advertising materials, and basic brand id pieces for existing and new OneCity brands. Includes one lead designer.

Web Site Administrator
Help manage content and update current sites. Work with various stakeholders to receive requests and facilitate scheduling of updates with web team.

Writers
People who love the written and spoken word and helping us find the right voice for our brands in all collateral, web, advertising, newsletters, video scripts, voice overs, etc. for existing and new OneCity brands. Includes one lead writer.

Event Team
Event volunteers needed for the OneCity Pro Am golf tournaments, banquets and silent/live auctions.

Mentoring

Become a mentor current OneCity initiatives - Whiz Kids, TeamWorks, StepUp, The Outlet.

TeamWorks
TeamWorks connects job members from Cincinnati Works (one of the most successful chronic unemployment placement agencies) with professional and caring mentors in order to support job placement, retention and self-sufficiency. Volunteers needed as mentors or for application and interviewing preparation help.

The Outlet
The Outlet is a safe place for homeless and poor local residents to have fun and build positive relationships that will facilitate recovery and healthy life choices. Play games (pool, board games, cards), participate in art projects, serve at the Outlet Cafe, play music, and plan events for the guests.

StepUp
StepUp is a mentoring program assisting residents of Hamilton County correctional facilities in making a positive transition into their community through affirming personal relationships and access to Jobs Plus (one of the most successful job placement agencies for hard-to-employ candidates) resources. Mentoring volunteer positions available.

Whiz Kids
WhizKids offers hope for elementary school children by pairing them with a caring adult to assist them in improving their reading and math skills. Tutoring, mentoring, meal preparation, and recreation support volunteer positions available.

WhizKids Volunteer Onboarder
The Onboarding team assists with volunteer mobilization by providing personal attention to volunteers by matching a volunteer’s interests, background and capacity with program needs. Onboarders direct volunteers to necessary next steps (training and meeting dates), answer questions about OneCity programs and should have good interpersonal skills, be organized and detail-oriented, have high initiative and be comfortable with connecting with new people.
